4 Creative Thinking Techniques When Writing For Your Website
Writing an article is more than just putting down thoughts. Ideally, you want to capture your readers interest so that they will keep on reading. In order to get your message across you have to have a firm understanding of what their interests are so that you can get them to not read just one article, but also to want to search you out for information.
An important part of creating a great article is to have a large dose of creativity. While creativity comes natural to many people, there are others who just get a mental block, where all we feel like doing is tearing our hair out. After hours of staring blankly at a computer screen or piece of paper, we walk away in utter frustration, wondering how even considered that we could write an appealing article.
Creating an image with words is an art, but it is thankfully an art that all people can develop. A clear depiction does require a certain flair that only creativity can provide. Using similes and metaphors can help a lot, but ultimately how an article flows word by word, sentence by sentence, and paragraph by paragraph, is what designates a good and interesting article.
So, what do you have to do when your mind is blank? Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed method to get the perfect ideas, but there are some easy techniques to get your creative thinking juices flowing. Here are four easy ways to help overcome the mental block and improve your creative writing for your website.
1) Keep a diary or journal with you at all times. Ideas can be triggered at any time and you want to write them out as they happen. Let your senses be your radar for finding great article ideas. Write any and all of your ideas into the journal and keep it with you for future reference. You also want to write down anything that you have read or heard, all ideas can be used to develop into your own ideas. This is not stealing, unless you copy it word for word. Ideas and creativity can come from anywhere, but it is the development of those ideas that make them uniquely yours.
If you find that a lot of ideas are coming to you when you are driving, carry a small tape recorder and save them. Many times you will find that your ideas flow and you are not in a position to write, but by adding a recorder you will still have these ideas available to you at a better time.
2) Stay relaxed and take the time to sort ideas out. A scrambled mind will not create new ideas. You must have a clear mind if you wish to have creativity at full speed. Get rid of all obstacles that can be a hindrance to your creativity, when something is bothering you, it is very difficult to force your mind to keep focused.
Use relaxation techniques just before sitting down to write and think about your experiences and interactions with others. Your personal and business experiences are what shape your thinking and opinions, use these in your your writing. You want to discover your voice through your emotions. What inspires you and what ticks you off. Use these emotions to help you express yourself and your ideas.
3) Have a working place that will inspire your creativeness. If your work space does make you happy and relaxed, it will be a hindrance to good writing. Creativity is a result of being in a good state of mind and a messy workplace will cause distraction. Surround your working space with things that make you happy and help you relax. It may be putting up pictures, aromatherapy, or objects that inspire you. Use whatever you can to get yourself in a relaxed mood and you will find your creative juices flowing.
4) Get away and do something out of your normal routine. Allowing yourself to have fun produces adrenaline which can help your imagination go in totally new directions. By breaking your normal routine, you can create new experiences, which lead to different thought patterns. In no time your ability for creative thinking will use the new experience and get your imagination to go into overdrive.
Since all people have different thoughts and feelings, we all have our own creative abilities, but may not believe that they are different. By using the four creative thinking techniques from above, you can improve your creative thinking when writing for your website. The hardest part is actually starting to write, but once you tap into your creative side it can become an enjoyable experience.
