I was sitting here yesterday thinking of the reasons why I wanted to build a business in the first place and many things came to mind. I didn’t want a boss; I wanted my to set my own hours; making money; so many things that were about me. Then I decided to start writing things down of what I wanted to do once I was able to ‘retire’ from work, and I realized my reasons had nothing to do with money. WHAT! Not about the money, I was shocked. But it is true, it was about time and freedom. The time that I could spend with my wife doing the things we love and the freedom to do it on our terms. I want to be able to take a vacation when I want not when I’m told I can.
Do these things require money? Yes, they do. Money though, is secondary, it is a biproduct that I need inorder to have the time and freedom that I desire.
This is an important part of your business. I think one of the keys to success. Make it about more than money and if you sit down and make a list of what you want you will probably find that it is for you too.
